Jasper Daybed

When designing furniture I have always tried to tie together the vernacular of classical form with modernity. The Greek Revival furnishings of Villa Kérylos have always inspired me. When designing this daybed, it was only after months of development that I began to see the Villa’s influence.

The Jasper Daybed is the fourth member of a family that began, some years ago, with a bed. A bench followed, then an ottoman, each one a further distillation of the same idea: solid hardwood frame, English bridle leather straps, and a quality of repose that feels both ancient and entirely at home in the present.

The daybed carries all of this forward. The mattress and bolsters — offered in soft, medium, or firm — are blind-tufted top and bottom and sit upon an upholstered webbed frame at a settled height of eighteen inches. The frame is available in twenty-six wood species. The leather straps, as ever, are the signature.
